The weekend is always an awesome time for yourself and for people who are catching up with each other and mingling around. If you are sitting alone reading or watching a movie or a sitcom this weekend, or if you are hosting people at your place, Dewar’s Scotch whisky by Bacardi India has some fabulous Cocktails and Food pairing recipes to offer you. These are specially curated cocktails by Greg Benson, celebrated mixologist, distiller and Dewar’s India brand ambassador.
Name of Cocktail: Golden Sour
- 50ml Dewar’s 12yr
- 25ml yellow lemon juice
- 25ml Honey syrup
- Egg white
Garnish: Angosutra bitters and a lemon twist. Optionally, honeycomb as well.
Method: Shake all ingredients together and strain into a rocks glass. To make the honey syrup, mix 1 part honey to 1 part hot water and allow it to cool.
Best Paired with: Grilled Chicken Skewers
Name of Cocktail: Old Fashioned with a Twist
- 50ml Dewar’s 15yr
- 10ml Ginger – Cinnamon – Cardamom syrup
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
Garnish: Orange twist. Optionally, candied ginger as well.
Method: Stir all ingredients together and strain into a rocks glass.
Ginger-Cinnamon-Cardamom syrup recipe: Heat 1 cup of water to 1.5/2 cups of sugar in a pan, add fresh ginger, cardamom and cinnamon and gently heat for 20 minutes. Strain once a little cooler.
BONUS EXTRA (if needed): Smoke glass by blowtorching botanicals (e.g. cinnamon, star anise, clove etc) and capturing smoke in the glass before straining cocktail in.
