This one is straight out of some Bollywood movie. At the Look Act East Kitchen in Dilli Haat, it was a regular morning. Prepping up the kitchen for the customers and getting ready for the orders of the day. Suddenly, the door opens and in walks the talented Manipuri Actress and Model Soma Laishram who was on a detour of Delhi.
The celebrity from the Manipur was on a lookout to taste some authentic Manipuri and Northeast cuisine. This is a common sight of Northeast people who are travelling away from home. We crave for our fish, our herbs and for our vegetables everywhere we go. Unfortunately, there is a dearth of restaurants catering authentic Northeast food in the metros and the market is saturated with North Indian and South Indian food.
But this time, to her delight, Soma saw a new development. She found Look Act East Kitchen in Dilli Haat, INA, Delhi where she could have all the popular Manipuri food.
The place is all the more comforting because it’s the only restaurant in Dilli Haat that is air-conditioned and has a fine dine theme.
LAE Kitchen’ was founded in June 2015 by Sorokhaibam’s family. The founder and master chef Jeena Sorokhaibam is an ardent lover of food who gained diverse culinary skills when travelling across the length and breadth of the country during the career of her husband who is a Military Veteran.
Her passion for cooking led her to open a restaurant serving ethnic cuisines to the ‘in-house guests’ of the parent brand ‘LookActEast Hospitality Services’ with its offices at Delhi, Noida and Imphal. After about three years of R&D, product development and lots of entrepreneurial challenges along the way, a fine-dining Manipuri cum Northeast restaurant was opened in the heart of Delhi offering exquisite dining experience with an ethnic yet contemporary ambience.
The place has been covered by the Times of India for being budget friendly and it is also ISO certified. The actress also generously visited the Look Act East Restaurant in Delhi University, Hudson Lane which popularly caters to a pan Northeast food. She tasted the sumptuous Assamese, Nagamese, Manipuri and other thalis.
This restaurant stands out in the crowded food world of the University Lane because it is not only really budget friendly but also serves the most authentic cuisines of the East. So, for the Northeast people who are away from home, this is their home kitchen around the University area and for the people who want to try some Eastern food, you are in for a delectable surprise.
Here is a video we have prepared detailing the experience of the actress at the restaurants and to cherish the moment of her visit to the restaurants.
