Burger Singh, one of the largest QSR chain of Indianized burger chain, claims that they have launched their first perfume product – the UDTA PUNJAB 2.0 Eau De Cologne at just INR 38 only.
Post sending out this message, Burger Singh even started receiving good response from their customers. The perfume was introduced with the punchline “Smell like the Raw mainlines of Punjab”.
It said that the product is inspired by the gastronomical and aromatic delights of Makki and Sarson, and will transport customers to the fields of Punjab – one whiff at a time. It also claimed that it took two years of molecular research with world-renowned perfumers to introduce Burger Singh’s very first perfume – the “Udta Punjab Cologne”.
Burger Singh booked 3,915 colognes within few hours of the launch.
But the date, along with the fact that Burger Singh’s most famous burger Udta Punjab will be used as a cologne, led many to believe that it is an April Fools’ joke. But this product surely created a lot of excitement in the customers that they actually ordered the product.
So, the answer to the question posed above is, no. Burger Singh didn’t launch a cologne brand. It was a hilarious April Fool prank.
